How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Izzet Boilerworks.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Overgrown Estate by sacrificing Izzet Boilerworks.
5. When Izzet Boilerworks dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Izzet Boilerworks from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Izzet Boilerworks enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Overgrown Estate ability

This elegant loop turns the rules of the battlefield inside out by leveraging Toph, the First Metalbender, whose static ability reclassifies all your nontoken artifacts as lands alongside their other types. With that foundation set, casting a zero-mana artifact lets Toph, Hardheaded Teacher earthbend Izzet Boilerworks into an animated land creature, ready to be sacrificed to Overgrown Estate for a burst of life. Because Izzet Boilerworks was transformed into a land by Toph, the First Metalbender, its eventual death triggers the safety net of its own earthbend effect—or rather, when it hits the graveyard, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher's return clause brings Izzet Boilerworks right back to the battlefield tapped. Finally, when Izzet Boilerworks re-enters, its own triggered ability forces you to bounce a land, and since your zero-mana artifact is currently a land thanks to Toph, the First Metalbender, it bounces safely back to your hand to start the cycle anew.
