How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Nyxborn Shieldmate, adding .
2. When Nyxborn Shieldmate dies, Mortuary and Ashiok's Reaper trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Nyxborn Shieldmate on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Ashiok's Render trigger, causing you to draw Nyxborn Shieldmate from your library.
5. Cast Nyxborn Shieldmate by paying .
6. Repeat.

This charming little loop turns the humble Nyxborn Shieldmate into a self-sustaining engine by exploiting how enchantments and creatures interact in the graveyard. When you feed Nyxborn Shieldmate to Phyrexian Altar, its death simultaneously triggers Mortuary to tuck it safely away on top of your library and Ashiok's Reaper to immediately draw it back into your hand. Because the Altar provides the exact white mana needed to recast the creature, you can repeat this cycle endlessly to churn through your entire deck while generating infinite sacrifices, leaves-the-battlefield triggers, and storm count.
