How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Cultivator of Blades.
  2. When Cultivator of Blades dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Cultivator of Blades enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges entirely on the continuous sacrifice engine provided by Altar of Dementia to mill your opponents out of the game. When you feed Cultivator of Blades to the altar, Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's static persist ability brings the creature right back to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. That's where Cultivator of Blades's own fabricate ability steps in, placing a +1/+1 counter that immediately neutralizes the negative counter to keep the cycle going indefinitely. Meanwhile, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn sets the stage by granting your creature spells convoke, tying the transformation mechanics of this double-faced card together while you churn through endless death and sacrifice triggers.
