How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing another nontoken green Insect.
2. When the Insect dies, Zask and Verdant Succession trigger.
3. Resolve the Zask trigger, putting the Insect on the bottom of your library from your graveyard and causing you to mill two cards.
4. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger, searching your library for that Insect and putting it onto the battlefield.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Phyrexian Altar to churn a green Insect into a steady stream of colored mana, death triggers, and sacrifice counts. As soon as the creature falls, Verdant Succession steps in to fish an identical copy straight out of your library and slide it right back onto the battlefield. Meanwhile, Zask, Skittering Swarmlord handles the fallout in the graveyard, constantly tucking your fallen swarm to the bottom of your library while fueling a massive self-mill engine to dig deeper into your deck.
