How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing another nontoken green Insect.
2. When the Insect dies, Zask and Verdant Succession trigger.
3. Resolve the Zask trigger, putting the Insect on the bottom of your library from your graveyard and causing you to mill two cards.
4. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger, searching your library for that Insect and putting it onto the battlefield.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
6. Repeat.

This clever recycling engine is anchored by Zask, Skittering Swarmlord, which ensures your fallen bugs don't stay in the graveyard for long by tucking them away and feeding you fresh mill triggers. When you feed a green nontoken Insect to Altar of Dementia, Verdant Succession immediately steps in to fetch a fresh copy of that exact creature straight from your library onto the battlefield. Because Zask also gives you permission to play your lands and cast Insects right back out of the graveyard, the combination of these three permanents creates a seamless loop that grinds through your entire library while triggering endless deaths and enters-the-battlefield effects.
