How it works

1. Activate Skirk Prospector by sacrificing it.
2. When Skirk Prospector dies, Mortuary and Carmen trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Skirk Prospector from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Carmen trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and put a +1/+1 counter on Carmen.
5. Cast Skirk Prospector from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a humble goblin into an engine for infinite resources by exploiting a clever replacement effect. With Bolas's Citadel allowing you to cast spells directly from the top of your library for life instead of mana, you can repeatedly sacrifice Skirk Prospector to its own ability for red mana. As it dies, Mortuary instantly intercepts the goblin to place it right back on top of your library, while Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher triggers off the sacrifice to grow larger and buffer your life total to sustain Bolas's Citadel's life payments. You are left with an unstoppable engine generating boundless mana, death triggers, and a massively pumped vampire commander.
