How it works

1. Activate Skirk Prospector by sacrificing it.
2. When Skirk Prospector dies, Mortuary and Embalmed Ascendant trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Skirk Prospector from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Embalmed Ascendant trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and each opponent to lose 1 life.
5. Cast Skirk Prospector from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Skirk Prospector into a self-sustaining engine by utilizing Mortuary to immediately recycle the sacrificed Goblin to the top of your library. From there, Bolas's Citadel allows you to bypass mana costs entirely, letting you recast the Prospector for a mere 1 life instead of its usual mana price. Meanwhile, Embalmed Ascendant acts as the vital bridge that keeps your life total safe and your engine running; its max speed static ability triggers whenever the Prospector dies, gaining you 1 life to offset the cost of casting it from the top of your library while draining opponents down to zero.
