How it works

1. Activate Skirk Prospector by sacrificing it.
2. When Skirk Prospector dies, Mortuary and Carmen trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Skirk Prospector from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Carmen trigger, causing you to gain 1 life and put a +1/+1 counter on Carmen.
5. Cast Skirk Prospector from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a humble goblin into an engine of endless power, centered around Mortuary's mandatory replacement effect that intercepts Skirk Prospector the moment it hits the graveyard and tucks it safely back onto the top of your library. From there, Gwenom, Remorseless lets you peer past the veil and recast that very same Skirk Prospector from the top of your library, bypassing its normal mana cost by paying life instead—a cost easily offset by the life gain provided by Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher. Every single iteration sees Carmen growing larger thanks to her own triggered ability every time a permanent is sacrificed, which not only fuels your red mana reserves via Skirk Prospector's sacrifice ability but also continuously churns out storm count, death triggers, and massive +1/+1 counters.
