How it works

1. Activate Skirk Prospector by sacrificing it.
2. When Skirk Prospector dies, Mortuary and Vein Ripper trigger.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Skirk Prospector from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Vein Ripper trigger, causing you to gain 2 life and target opponent to lose 2 life.
5. Cast Skirk Prospector from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
6. Repeat.

Skirk Prospector provides the initial sacrifice outlet for red mana, triggering Mortuary to seamlessly recycle the Prospector right back to the top of your library instead of letting it rest in peace. Meanwhile, Gwenom, Remorseless lets you peer past the veil and recast that very same Skirk Prospector directly from the top of your library, paying its mana value as life rather than mana—a cost easily offset by the life-draining carnage of Vein Ripper, which watches every sacrifice and death to steadily drain your opponent while padding your own health total.
