How it works
Activate up to five lands by tapping them, adding at least 2.
Activate Chthonian Nightmare by paying at most E, sacrificing Peregrine Drake and returning Chthonian Nightmare from the battlefield to your hand, returning a creature with mana value 1 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield.
Cast Chthonian Nightmare by paying 1.
When Chthonian Nightmare enters the battlefield, it triggers, giving you EEE.
Activate Chthonian Nightmare by paying EEEEE, sacrificing a nontoken creature with mana value 1 or less and returning Chthonian Nightmare from the battlefield to your hand, returning Peregrine Drake from your graveyard to the battlefield.
When Peregrine Drake enters the battlefield, it triggers, untapping up to five lands.
Cast Chthonian Nightmare by paying 1.
When Chthonian Nightmare enters the battlefield, it triggers, giving you EEE.
Repeat.
If the five lands can tap to produce at least 3, this combo nets infinite mana.
This clever loop relies on Chthonian Nightmare’s ability to recycle itself back to your hand while constantly resurrecting your threats using energy. By sacrificing Peregrine Drake to fund the enchantment's activation, you can bring the Drake right back from the graveyard using a small creature as stepping stone fodder. When Peregrine Drake enters the battlefield, its untap trigger refreshes your mana sources to easily pay for recasting Chthonian Nightmare, letting you continuously farm endless enters-the-battlefield effects and profit on the net mana.
