How it works

1. Deal combat damage to an opponent using Withengar Unbound, causing them to get at least ten poison counters.
2. The opponent loses the game as a state-based action due to having ten or more poison counters.
3. Withengar Unbound triggers, putting thirteen +1/+1 counters on it.
4. Activate Withengar Unbound using Walking Ballista's second ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, giving an opponent a poison counter.
5. Repeat step 4 until the opponent loses the game as a state-based action due to having ten or more poison counters.
6. Repeat from step 3.

This lethal loop turns Elbrus, the Binding Blade—or rather, its terrifying backside, Withengar Unbound—into a self-sustaining engine of doom. By granting Withengar Unbound infect via Glistening Oil, any combat damage it deals quickly translates to game-ending poison counters, which immediately triggers Withengar Unbound to harvest thirteen +1/+1 counters upon the opponent's defeat. Meanwhile, Agatha's Soul Cauldron allows Withengar Unbound to inherit Walking Ballista's activated ability by exiling it and placing a counter, letting you strip off those newly acquired +1/+1 counters to ping opponents directly with poison. Because Glistening Oil conveniently returns to your hand when put into a graveyard, you can even replay it if needed, while Agatha's Soul Cauldron ensures you can always use any color of mana to fuel your macabre pinging.
