How it works

1. Cast Hulking Metamorph by paying its mana cost. Choose to have it enter the battlefield as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
2. Put Hulking Metamorph into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
3. Hulking Metamorph's first ability and second ability trigger, along with Rakdos Joins Up's second ability.
4. Resolve Hulking Metamorph's second trigger and Rakdos Joins Up's trigger, dealing damage to target opponent.
5. Resolve Hulking Metamorph's first trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This loop turns the legend rule into a lethal engine by leveraging Hulking Metamorph's ability to enter the battlefield as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up, which immediately triggers the legend rule to send one copy to the graveyard. Because Hulking Metamorph retains its ability to return itself to the battlefield—bolstered by the two additional +1/+1 counters from Rakdos Joins Up's own recursive entry trigger—it loops endlessly between the battlefield and the graveyard. Every time this happens, the legendary status of the copies causes death triggers that allow Rakdos Joins Up to continuously hurl damage directly at your opponent's face. Meanwhile, Starfield of Nyx sits quietly in the background, ready to reclaim your key pieces from the graveyard should anything disrupt the cycle.
