How it works

1. Activate Spawning Pit's first ability by sacrificing Cauldron Familiar.
2. Activate Cauldron Familiar by sacrificing a Food, returning Cauldron Familiar to the battlefield from your graveyard.
3. Cauldron Familiar and Desecrated Tomb trigger.
4. Resolve the Desecrated Tomb trigger, creating a token and a Food token.
5. Resolve the Cauldron Familiar trigger, causing each opponent to lose 1 life and you to gain 1 life.
6. Repeat

This clever feedback loop transforms a humble cat into an engine of endless life drain and token generation. By feeding Cauldron Familiar to Spawning Pit, you send the cat to the graveyard, triggering Desecrated Tomb as it leaves; Peregrin Took steps in right here to upgrade that resulting Bat token into both a Bat and an extra Food token. You can then use that very Food to pay for Cauldron Familiar's ability to return itself to the battlefield, which drains your opponents and restarts the cycle while leaving you plenty of leftover resources to draw cards and churn out infinite artifacts and creatures.
