How it works

1. Play Glacial Chasm either from your hand or from your graveyard.
2. When Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield, its second ability triggers, causing you to sacrifice another land you control.
3. Play any land from your graveyard.
4. At the beginning of your next upkeep, Glacial Chasm's cumulative upkeep ability triggers, allowing you to choose not to pay the cost and sacrifice it instead.
5. Repeat.

This locking mechanism turns Glacial Chasm into an impenetrable shield, effectively nullifying all damage dealt to you while completely bypassing its punishing cumulative upkeep. Normally, paying the escalating life cost or sacrificing the land after a few turns would break the lock, but Ramunap Excavator lets you bypass the graveyard restriction to constantly replay the Chasm, while Dryad of the Ilysian Grove provides the extra land drop needed to sustain your mana base and fuel this endless cycle. Because you simply sacrifice Glacial Chasm to itself during your upkeep and replay it fresh from the graveyard on your turn, you never have to pay the cumulative upkeep costs or let the age counters accumulate.
