How it works

1. Play Glacial Chasm either from your hand or from your graveyard.
2. When Glacial Chasm enters the battlefield, its second ability triggers, causing you to sacrifice another land you control.
3. Play any land from your graveyard.
4. At the beginning of your next upkeep, Glacial Chasm's cumulative upkeep ability triggers, allowing you to choose not to pay the cost and sacrifice it instead.
5. Repeat.

This clever setup abuses the fact that Glacial Chasm's cumulative upkeep allows you to simply sacrifice the land rather than pay its mounting life cost, completely bypassing its downside while keeping its blanket damage prevention active. To sustain this loop, Ramunap Excavator lets you repeatedly play Glacial Chasm right back out of your graveyard, while Captain Kathryn Janeway grants the extra land drop needed each turn to keep the cycle going. Furthermore, whenever Captain Kathryn Janeway or another creature enters to help you chain these lands, her ability triggers to let that creature explore, filtering your draws or growing your board as a delightful bonus.
