How it works

  1. Declare Altaïr as an attacker. Altaïr triggers, exiling Éomer from your graveyard with a memory counter on it, and then creating a tapped and attacking token copy of each card you own that is exiled with a memory counter on it.
  2. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing another legendary creature token except Éomer.
  3. When the creature dies, Éomer triggers, untapping all creatures you control and causing you to get an additional combat phase after this one.
  4. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
  5. Repeat during each combat phase.

This intricate loop hinges on Rukarumel, Biologist to rewrite the creature types of your entire deck, turning your graveyard and token copies into Assassins so they interact seamlessly with Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's attack trigger. When Altaïr swings, he resurrects Éomer, Marshal of Rohan as a tapped and attacking token copy, bringing a vital passive haste and untap engine into the fray. By using Umbral Collar Zealot to sacrifice your extra creatures, you trigger Éomer's once-per-turn untap and extra combat clauses, while the Zealot lets you filter your library via surveil to keep the graveyard stocked. Because Altaïr creates fresh token copies in each new combat phase, you can repeatedly sacrifice your legendary tokens, continuously resetting your attackers for endless combat steps and death triggers.
