How it works

1. Activate Yahenni by sacrificing the creature with persist.
2. The persist ability triggers, returning that creature to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it, as well as a +1/+1 counter due to Gev.
3. The +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on that creature are removed as a state-based action.
4. Resolve the ability from step 1, giving it indestructible until end of turn.
5. Repeat.

This clever engine transforms a simple sacrifice loop into a fountain of persistent triggers by exploiting how counters interact on the battlefield. Whenever you feed a creature with persist to Yahenni, Undying Partisan's sacrifice ability, the creature resurrects with a -1/-1 counter, but Gev, Scaled Scorch steps in to grant it an additional +1/+1 counter because an opponent has lost life. State-based actions immediately cancel out these opposing +1/+1 and -1/+1 counters, wiping the slate clean so the creature is ready to be sacrificed all over again. Yahenni, Undying Partisan even has a built-in sacrifice outlet to keep the cycle churning safely toward infinite sacrifices, leave-the-battlefield, and death triggers.
