How it works

  1. Cast the creature in your hand by paying one mana, causing the creature to enter the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing the creature, adding one mana.
  3. When the creature dies, Resourceful Defense triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Evolution Witness.
  4. Evolution Witness triggers, returning the creature from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Repeat.
