How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing a nontoken green creature, adding .
2. When the creature dies, Verdant Succession triggers.
3. Holding priority, activate Haunted Crossroads by paying , putting the creature on top of your library from your graveyard.
4. Resolve the Verdant Succession trigger, putting the creature from your library onto the battlefield.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop leverages Phyrexian Altar to sacrifice a green creature and generate the black mana needed to activate Haunted Crossroads. When that creature hits the graveyard, Verdant Succession triggers to search your library for another copy, but before that resolution finishes, Haunted Crossroads neatly stacks the exact same card from your graveyard onto the top of your library. This allows Verdant Succession to pull it right back onto the battlefield, creating a self-sustaining cycle that endlessly repeats your creature's entry, exit, and sacrifice.
