How it works

  1. Cast The Balrog from the command zone by paying B manaR mana.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing The Balrog, adding B mana.
  3. Choose to return The Balrog to the command zone from your graveyard.
  4. When The Balrog dies, it and Pitiless Plunderer trigger.
  5. Resolve the Balrog trigger, destroying any artifact and/or creature an opponent controls.
  6. Resolve the Pitiless Plunderer trigger, creating a Treasure token.
  7. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding R mana.
  8. Repeat.
