How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Golgari Thug, adding .
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the top of your library.
3. Wan Shi Tong's second ability triggers, creating two 1/1 Spirit creature tokens.
4. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing a Spirit, adding 1.
5. Cast Golgari Thug from the top of your library by paying 1.
6. Repeat.

This brilliant loop relies on sacrificing Golgari Thug to Phyrexian Altar to generate mana and trigger its own death ability, which places it right back on top of your library. While The Lunar Whale lets you look at the top card of your library, it is Wan Shi Tong, All-Knowing that truly transforms this engine by flooding your board with unblockable Spirit tokens every time a card moves into a library. You can then sacrifice those tokens to Phyrexian Altar to pay for recasting Golgari Thug from the top of your library, generating an infinite supply of mana, creature tokens, and death triggers.
