How it works

  1. Activate Obscuring Aether by paying 1G mana, turning it face-down as a 2/2 creature.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Obscuring Aether, adding G mana.
  3. When Obscuring Aether dies, Yarus's second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield face down, then turning it face up.
  4. Deathmist Raptor triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield face down.
  5. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Deathmist Raptor, adding one mana of any color.
  6. When Deathmist Raptor dies, Yarus's second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield face down, then turning it face up.
  7. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Deathmist Raptor, adding one mana of any color.
  8. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms morph and disguise mechanics into an endless engine for mana and triggers by turning the graveyard into a revolving door. With Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods watching over your battlefield, any face-down creature that dies instantly sneaks right back onto the battlefield and flips face up—a trigger that simultaneously rescues Deathmist Raptor from your graveyard and restarts the cycle. To fuel the engine, Phyrexian Altar provides the necessary sacrifice outlet to generate mana while triggering Yarus's death ability, and Obscuring Aether pulls double duty by making your face-down spells cheaper before it can also be sacrificed as a 2/2 creature to kick the loop into gear.
