How it works

1. Cast Infested Thrinax by paying 3
2. When Infested Thrinax enters the battlefield, it triggers, causing you to create a number of 1/1 Saproling creature tokens when a nontoken creature you control dies.
3. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Scourge of Nel Toth, adding .
4. When Scourge of Nel Toth dies, Infested Thrinax triggers, creating six 1/1 Saproling creature tokens.
5. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing a Saproling, adding .
6. Cast Scourge of Nel Toth from your graveyard by paying and sacrificing two Saprolings.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This ingenious engine turns a single sacrifice into a sprawling wave of insectoid bodies. It all begins with Infested Thrinax, whose triggered ability ensures that whenever a nontoken creature you control dies, it leaves behind a swarm of 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens equal to that creature's power. Phyrexian Altar acts as the financial heart of the operation, converting those newly minted tokens and your larger threats into a steady stream of colored mana. Finally, Scourge of Nel Toth provides the muscle, using that generated mana and a pair of sacrificial Saprolings to repeatedly claw its way out of the graveyard, triggering the Thrinax all over again and sustaining an infinite loop of sacrifices and tokens.
