How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing another nontoken creature that doesn't have a -1/-1 counter on it.
2. When the creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the creature enters, Mighty Mutanimals triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on the creature.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of endless rebirth, granting your nontoken creatures persist so they can continually sacrifice themselves to Phyrexian Altar for any color of mana. Whenever one of these creatures returns, Mighty Mutanimals steps in with its alliance ability to place a +1/+1 counter on it, which conveniently neutralizes the persist -1/+1 counter cancellation rule so the cycle can repeat indefinitely. Meanwhile, the front face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight provides creature spells you cast with convoke, ensuring your mana-producing board state can easily redeploy whatever threats you need to seal the game.
