How it works

1. Whenever damage would be dealt to you, Pariah causes that damage to be redirected to Anti-Venom.
2. Anti-Venom will then prevent the damage and put that many +1/+1 counters on it instead.

This defensive loop locks down combat and direct damage by turning Pariah and Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer into an impenetrable shield. Once you cast Anti-Venom to leverage its entrance trigger and return a creature from your graveyard, you enchant it with Pariah so that all incoming damage to you is redirected to the healer instead. Because Anti-Venom's replacement effect prevents that damage and grows stronger with +1/+1 counters in the process, you become entirely immune to further damage while your board presence scales up indefinitely.
