How it works

1. Activate Grinning Ignus by paying and returning it to your hand from the battlefield, adding CC.
2. Cast Grinning Ignus by paying 2 and 2 life.
3. Defiler of Instinct triggers, dealing 1 damage to any target.
4. When Grinning Ignus enters the battlefield, Healer of the Pride triggers, causing you to gain 2 life.
5. Repeat.

This loop is a masterclass in turning a self-bouncing creature into a relentless engine. Grinning Ignus effortlessly funds its own return trip by trading one red mana for three colorless and red, but it needs a little help from Defiler of Instinct to turn that mana neutral into a profitable venture: by substituting 2 life for the red mana in the creature's casting cost, the Defiler makes each re-summon completely free to recast. Meanwhile, every iteration dutifully triggers Healer of the Pride to continually replenish the life you paid into the Defiler, leaving you free to let Defiler of Instinct's triggered ability rain down infinite damage upon any target you choose.
