How it works

1. Activate Grinning Ignus by paying and returning it to your hand, adding CC.
2. Cast Grinning Ignus by paying .
3. Activate Skyshroud Elf by paying 1, adding .

This clever loop turns the self-bouncing nature of Grinning Ignus into a veritable engine by leveraging cost reduction and mana filtering. Normally, returning the Ignus leaves you down a mana, but Planar Gate steps in to slash its casting cost from two red down to a single red mana. To convert the remaining colorless mana generated by Grinning Ignus into the red fuel needed to recast it, Skyshroud Elf provides the crucial filtering ability by tapping or paying a generic mana to generate {R}. The result is a self-sustaining cycle that endlessly repeats its entry and departure, driving your storm count through the roof.
