Akki Battle Squad

How it works

1. During your combat phase, activate a modified creature you control by tapping it, adding at least 1.
2. Activate Volrath by paying 1, causing it to become a copy of Akki Battle Squad until your next turn.
3. Declare any modified creature you control as an attacker.
4. Volrath triggers, untapping all modified creatures you control and causing you to get an additional combat phase after this one.
5. Repeat each combat phase.

This clever combination relies on Volrath, the Shapestealer's unique cloning ability to weaponize Akki Battle Squad for an endless stream of combat steps. Because Volrath's own combat trigger places a -1/-1 counter on a creature, it naturally satisfies the condition that makes creatures "modified"—which also means Volrath can immediately copy any modified creature, including Akki Battle Squad itself. Once Volrath is transformed into a copy of Akki Battle Squad, declaring attackers triggers the Squad's ability to untap all modified creatures and grant you an additional combat phase. By repeating this process across the extra phases, you generate infinite combat phases and infinite untaps of your modified army.
