How it works

1. Activate Blasting Station by tapping it and sacrificing Metalwork Colossus, dealing 1 damage to Smaug.
2. Smaug triggers, creating two artifact tokens due to Stridehangar Automaton.
3. Activate Metalwork Colossus by sacrificing the two artifact tokens, returning Metalwork Colossus from your graveyard to your hand.
4. Cast Metalwork Colossus by paying 0.
5. When Metalwork Colossus enters, Blasting Station triggers, untapping Blasting Station.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop centers on the relentless sacrifice and return of Metalwork Colossus, whose massive mana value allows it to be recast for free with the help of your other artifacts. Blasting Station serves as both the executioner—dealing the noncombat damage to trigger Smaug the Impenetrable—and the engine that untaps itself each time the Colossus returns. Meanwhile, Stridehangar Automaton supercharges Smaug's damage-to-Treasure conversion by sliding an extra Thopter token into the mix every time treasures are made, while simultaneously pumping those Thopters. The newly generated tokens are then fed straight back to Metalwork Colossus to recur it from the graveyard, sustaining an endless cycle of artifact and creature carnage.
