How it works
Activate Terra, Magical Adept by paying 4 and tapping it, exiling it and returning it to the battlefield as Esper Terra.
When Esper Terra enters the battlefield, its first chapter ability triggers, copying another nonlegendary Saga you control and putting two to three lore counters on it.
The Saga tokens first through fourth chapter abilities trigger, as applicable. Resolve all triggers, and sacrifice the Saga token upon resolving the final trigger.
When the Saga token leaves the battlefield, Resourceful Defense triggers, moving the lore counters from the Saga token onto Esper Terra.
Esper Terra's second, third and fourth chapter abilities trigger.
Resolve the second and third chapter abilities.
Resolve the fourth chapter ability, adding and then exiling Esper Terra and returning it to the battlefield as Terra, Magical Adept.
Resourceful Defense and Terra, Magical Adept trigger.
Resolve the Resourceful Defense trigger, moving all counters from Esper Terra onto any other permanent
Resolve the Terra, Magical Adept trigger, causing you to mill five cards and return up to one enchantment card from among them from your graveyard to your hand.
Repeat.
This intricate loop gets its momentum by repeatedly flipping Terra, Magical Adept into its transformed Saga side, Esper Terra, which then relies on a steady stream of cloned enchantments to cycle itself infinitely. As Esper Terra creates explosive token copies of your key targets with its early chapters, Fires of Yavimaya helps ensure your creatures are ready for action while its sacrifice ability sits in reserve. The true engine of preservation is Resourceful Defense, which catches the lore counters as your temporary Saga tokens leave the battlefield and safely migrates them onto Esper Terra itself. This accelerated lore accumulation triggers Esper Terra's chapter IV ahead of schedule, flooding your mana pool with ten colored mana and blinking the card back to its front face so you can mill five cards, grab an enchantment back to your hand, and start the whole alchemical cycle over again.
