How it works

1. Put a +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak.
2. Scurry Oak triggers, creating a 1/1 Squirrel creature token.
3. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the Squirrel.
4. When the Squirrel dies, Tarrian's Soulcleaver triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak.
5. Scurry Oak triggers, creating a 1/1 Squirrel creature token.
6. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing target player to mill cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns the natural synergy between Scurry Oak and Tarrian's Soulcleaver into a devastating engine for self-mill or opponent-decking. Whenever a +1/+1 counter lands on Scurry Oak, its triggered ability spits out a 1/1 Squirrel token, which you can immediately feed to Altar of Dementia to mill cards equal to that token's power. The moment that Squirrel bites the dust and heads to the graveyard, Tarrian's Soulcleaver steps in with its passive triggered ability to drop another +1/+1 counter right back onto Scurry Oak. Because equipping Tarrian's Soulcleaver isn't even necessary to keep the chain moving, this loop endlessly recycles your tokens to mill an entire library in one fell swoop.
