How it works
Cast Scurry Oak by paying its mana cost.
When Scurry Oak enters, the effect that adds +1/+1 counters to entering creatures triggers or applies its replacement effect, putting at least one +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak.
Scurry Oak triggers, creating a creature token.
When the creature token enters, that same effect causes you to place at least one +1/+1 counter on it.
Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the creature token.
When the creature token dies, Reluctant Role Model triggers, putting at least one +1/+1 counter on Scurry Oak
Repeat steps 3 and 4 once.
Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
Repeat from step 5.
This loop relies on Scurry Oak growing larger and spawning tokens whenever counters are added, creating an endless cycle of creature arrivals. Reluctant Role Model acts as the vital bridge, ensuring that when those tokens are sacrificed to Altar of Dementia, their dying counters are funneled right back onto Scurry Oak to keep the engine going. As the squirrel token population swells and feeds the Altar, you can completely mill out any opponent in a single, continuous flurry of sacrifices.
