How it works

1. Cast Stonecloaker without paying its mana cost.
2. Stonecloaker enters the battlefield, triggering to return itself to your hand.
3. Repeat.

This elegant little loop turns Aluren into a graveyard-clearing, storm-counting engine by exploiting the freedom to cast cheap creatures at instant speed. Because Aluren lets you cast Stonecloaker without paying its mana cost as though it had flash, you can deploy the gargoyle repeatedly from your hand. As soon as Stonecloaker hits the battlefield, its own mandatory enters-the-battlefield trigger forces you to return a creature you control to your hand—which can simply be Stonecloaker itself! Bouncing the gargoyle back to your hand resets the cycle instantly, letting you recast it over and over to generate infinite enters-the-battlefield triggers, leaves-the-battlefield triggers, and storm count while optionally cleaning out every card from opposing graveyards along the way.
