How it works

3. When Appa enters, it triggers, exiling Icewind Stalwart with the ability to cast it from exile later.
4. Cast Icewind Stalwart from exile by paying 0 due to Commander Liara Portyr.
5. When Icewind Stalwart enters, it triggers, blinking Appa
6. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns Commander Liara Portyr's attack trigger into a massive mana reduction by attacking multiple opponents, making spells cast from exile free. Once Appa, Steadfast Guardian enters the battlefield and exiles Icewind Stalwart with its airbend ability, you can cast Icewind Stalwart right back out of exile for zero mana thanks to Commander Liara Portyr's discount. That free re-entry immediately triggers Icewind Stalwart to blink Appa, Steadfast Guardian, resetting the whole cycle to continuously generate infinite creature tokens through Appa, Steadfast Guardian's second ability while storming off.
