How it works

1. Cast Whirlwind Technique by paying its mana cost, targeting any applicable target(s).
2. Holding priority, cast Lutri by paying its mana cost reduced by Ballad of the Black Flag.
3. When Lutri enters, it triggers, copying Whirlwind Technique targeting Lutri.
4. Resolve Whirlwind Technique, airbending Lutri.
5. Holding priority, cast Lutri from exile by paying 0 due to Ballad of the Black Flag.
6. Repeat from step 3.

This intricate loop relies heavily on Ballad of the Black Flag's fourth chapter, which reduces the cost of historic spells you cast by {2} to make casting Lutri, the Spellchaser completely free. With that cost reduction active, you cast Whirlwind Technique, holding priority to flash in Lutri so its enters-the-battlefield ability copies the spell, targeting Lutri itself with the airbend mode. As Lutri is exiled and then recast from exile for free—since its companion status doesn't apply here—it repeatedly triggers its own copying ability to sustain an endless loop of blinks, storm count, and card draws.
