How it works

1. Cast Rite of Replication with kicker by paying 7, creating ten token copies of Lullmage Mentor.
2. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate a Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven Merfolk you control, countering that spell.
3. Each Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating twice that many 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
4. Repeat from step 2.

This brilliant spell-locking engine relies on Rite of Replication's kicked version to flood the board with ten copies of Lullmage Mentor, while Mondrak, Glory Dominus doubles every single Merfolk token they produce into a staggering twenty bodies at a time. Whenever an opponent dares to cast a spell, you simply tap seven of those newly minted Merfolk to activate one Lullmage Mentor's counter ability. That very counter effect satisfies Lullmage Mentor's own trigger condition—as well as the other nine mentors—generating a massive surplus of replacement tokens to instantly restock your tapped ranks.
