How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of eight 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This elegant engine turns a simple counterspell into an exponential Merfolk army, locking your opponents completely out of casting spells. When you activate Lullmage Mentor's ability to counter an incoming threat, its own trigger normally rewards you with a single 1/1 token, but the cascading replacement effects of Parallel Lives, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, and Exalted Sunborn multiply that single token into an astonishing eight new Merfolk instead. Because you only need seven tapped Merfolk to fuel Lullmage Mentor's counter ability, this massive influx of eight fresh bodies leaves you with a net gain of available creatures, allowing you to repeat the cycle indefinitely. You not only neutralize every spell your opponents attempt to cast, but you also flood the board with near-infinite creatures in the process.
