How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of eight 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This loop locks down the stack entirely by transforming Lullmage Mentor's counter ability into a self-sustaining token engine. When you use the Mentor's tap ability to counter an opponent's spell, its triggered ability fires, and the combined replacement effects of Parallel Lives, Doubling Season, and Elspeth, Storm Slayer multiply the resulting 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens from one into eight. This explosive generation easily replaces the seven Merfolk you tapped, leaving you with a surplus of bodies to counter every subsequent spell your opponents dare to cast. Meanwhile, Elspeth, Storm Slayer can also contribute by dropping extra tokens or pumping your growing army with +1/+1 counters, sealing a total game lock.
