How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of twelve 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This brilliant loop transforms a single counterspell into an overwhelming defensive and numerical advantage. When you tap Lullmage Mentor to counter an opponent's spell using its activated ability, Lullmage Mentor's own triggered ability tries to spawn a single Merfolk token, but your replacement effects multiply that output exponentially. Adrix and Nev, Twincasters and Primal Vigor each double the token generation, while Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation triples it, turning that single token trigger into a massive swarm of twelve new Merfolk. Because you only needed to tap seven of them to pay the cost, you are left with a massive surplus of untapped bodies to immediately pay for Lullmage Mentor's counter ability again, completely locking your opponents out of casting spells for the rest of the game.
