How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of eight 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This lock relies on a cascading multiplication of token generation to turn a single counterspell into an overwhelming defensive force. When you use Lullmage Mentor to tap seven of your Merfolk to counter an opponent's spell, its triggered ability normally grants you one token; however, the combined replacement effects of Adrix and Nev, Twincasters, Parallel Lives, and Primal Vigor exponentially multiply that yield into eight brand-new Merfolk tokens. Because those replacement effects stack together to produce eight creatures from a single trigger, you instantly replace the seven Merfolk you tapped and gain an extra one to spare. This leaves you with more than enough bodies to immediately tap Lullmage Mentor again the moment your opponents try to cast another spell, locking them out of the game entirely with an endless wall of Merfolk.
