How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of eight 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This brilliant cascade begins when Lullmage Mentor steps up to counter an opponent's spell using its activated ability, tapping seven untapped Merfolk in the process. That counter event immediately triggers Lullmage Mentor's own reflexive ability to produce a token, at which point the token-doubling stack of Parallel Lives, Adrix and Nev, Twincasters, and Exalted Sunborn multiplies that single token into an astonishing eight fresh Merfolk. Because you only needed seven to pay the activation cost, you are left with a net gain of one tapped Merfolk and seven untapped ones, allowing you to instantly replenish your workforce, repeat the cycle, and completely lock opponents out of resolving any spells for the rest of the game.
