How it works

1. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, activate Lullmage Mentor by tapping seven untapped Merfolk, countering that spell.
2. Lullmage Mentor triggers, creating a total of eight 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens.
3. Repeat.

This spell-locking lock relies on a cascading multiplication of Merfolk tokens to constantly reload Lullmage Mentor's counter ability. Whenever an opponent tries to cast a spell, Lullmage Mentor can tap seven of its fishy followers to counter it, which in turn triggers its own ability to make a fresh 1/1 Merfolk token. That single token creation is immediately amplified by Adrix and Nev, Twincasters, Primal Vigor, and Mondrak, Glory Dominus, with each replacement effect doubling the output until you are suddenly flooded with eight new tokens. Because you now have more than enough bodies to immediately pay the activation cost again, you can effortlessly counter every subsequent spell your opponents attempt to cast while growing your unstoppable army.
