This clever loop creates an impenetrable counterspell lock by weaponizing exponential token doublers to fuel Lullmage Mentor's activated ability. Whenever an opponent casts a spell, you tap seven untapped Merfolk to have Lullmage Mentor counter it, which in turn triggers its own ability to create a Merfolk token. Because your board benefits from the replacement effects of Adrix and Nev, Twincasters, Elspeth, Storm Slayer, and Exalted Sunborn all at once, that single token creation is multiplied exponentially—yielding eight brand-new Merfolk tokens in total. With more than enough fresh bodies to immediately pay the seven-Merfolk cost again, you can repeat this process indefinitely to completely shut down your opponents' spells while flooding the battlefield.
