How it works
Cast Idris either from your hand or from the command zone by paying 1 and commander tax, if applicable.
When Idris enters the battlefield, its imprint ability triggers, targeting Sphinx's Disciple.
Holding priority, activate Strionic Resonator by paying 2 and tapping it, copying Idris' trigger, targeting Basalt Monolith.
Resolve both Idris triggers, exiling Basalt Monolith and Sphinx's Disciple.
During your next turn, activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
Activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's second ability by paying 3, untapping it.
Sphinx's Disciple triggers, causing you to draw a card.
Repeat from step 5.
This clever engine transforms Idris, Soul of the TARDIS into a powerhouse by copying its imprint trigger to consume multiple targets at once. Thanks to Encroaching Mycosynth turning nonland permanents like Sphinx's Disciple into artifacts, Idris can successfully imprint both it and Basalt Monolith. Once imprinted, Strionic Resonator isn't strictly necessary for the loop itself, but the initial setup allows Idris to inherit the mana generation of Basalt Monolith alongside the inspired trigger of Sphinx's Disciple. By repeatedly paying to untap through the copied monolith ability, you trigger the disciple's card draw infinitely.
