How it works
Cast Idris either from your hand or from the command zone by paying 1 and commander tax, if applicable.
When Idris enters the battlefield, its imprint ability triggers, targeting Sphinx's Disciple.
Holding priority, activate Strionic Resonator by paying 2 and tapping it, copying Idris' trigger, targeting Basalt Monolith.
Resolve both Idris triggers, exiling Basalt Monolith and Sphinx's Disciple.
During your next turn, activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
Activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's second ability by paying 3, untapping it.
Sphinx's Disciple triggers, causing you to draw a card.
Repeat from step 5.
This ingenious loop transforms Idris, Soul of the TARDIS into an absolute engine by leveraging the copying power of Strionic Resonator to imprint both Basalt Monolith and Sphinx's Disciple at the same time. While Silverskin Armor sits quietly in the background as a reminder that non-artifact creatures need a little metal help to become imprintable, it's the combination of the Monolith's mana generation and untap ability—borrowed directly by Idris—that drives the infinite loop. Every time you pay to untap the Monolith through Idris, the Disciple's inspired ability triggers to net you endless cards.
