How it works
Activate Liquimetal Coating by tapping it, causing Sphinx's Disciple to become an artifact until end of turn.
Cast Idris either from your hand or from the command zone by paying 1 and commander tax, if applicable.
When Idris enters the battlefield, its imprint ability triggers, targeting Sphinx's Disciple.
Holding priority, activate Strionic Resonator by paying 2 and tapping it, copying Idris' trigger, targeting Basalt Monolith.
Resolve both Idris triggers, exiling Basalt Monolith and Sphinx's Disciple.
During your next turn, activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
Activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's second ability by paying 3, untapping it.
Sphinx's Disciple triggers, causing you to draw a card.
Repeat from step 6.
This clever engine transforms Idris, Soul of the TARDIS into a powerhouse by using Liquimetal Coating to make Sphinx's Disciple a valid target for Idris's imprint ability. When you cast Idris, you leverage Strionic Resonator to copy its enter-the-battlefield trigger, allowing it to exile both the newly-minted artifact creature and Basalt Monolith simultaneously. Once exiled, Idris inherits the Monolith's mana-producing and self-untapping abilities alongside the Disciple's inspired trigger. By repeatedly untapping Idris with its own newly acquired Basalt Monolith activation, you trigger the Sphinx's Disciple ability over and over to draw your entire deck.
