How it works

1. Cast Vesuvan Doppelganger by paying its mana cost. Choose to have it enter the battlefield as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
2. Put Vesuvan Doppelganger into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
3. Vesuvan Doppelganger's first ability and second ability trigger, along with Rakdos Joins Up's second ability.
4. Resolve Vesuvan Doppelganger's second trigger and Rakdos Joins Up's trigger, dealing damage to target opponent.
5. Resolve Vesuvan Doppelganger's first trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop relies on the interaction between the legendary rule and Vesuvan Doppelganger's ability to copy enchantments that have become creatures. With Starfield of Nyx animating our enchantments into creatures based on their mana values, a newly entered Vesuvan Doppelganger can legally copy Rakdos Joins Up, immediately sacrificing itself to the legend rule while triggering its own resurrection ability. As it repeatedly returns from the graveyard to the battlefield as a fresh copy of Rakdos Joins Up, the original Rakdos Joins Up capitalizes on each death to repeatedly deal damage equal to the fallen legend's power to an opponent.
