How it works

1. Activate Qala by using Deathbringer Thoctar's ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, dealing 1 damage to any target and causing you to gain 1 life due to its lifelink.
2. Qala triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
3. Repeat.

This loop is fueled by Agatha's Soul Cauldron, which acts as the magical crucible granting Qala, Ajani's Pridemate the activated abilities of any creature cards exiled within it. By infusing Qala with Deathbringer Thoctar's activated ability—which normally removes a +1/+1 counter to deal 1 damage—you can target any opponent or permanent while capitalizing on Qala's native lifelinking capability via its activated life-gain ability. Each time that damage resolves and you gain life, Qala's triggered ability rewards you by placing a fresh +1/+1 counter right back on it, ready to be immediately spent again.
