How it works

1. Cast Wormfang Drake by paying its mana cost.
2. When Wormfang Drake enters, its first ability triggers, exiling Metamorphosis Fanatic.
3. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing Wormfang Drake.
4. When Wormfang Drake dies, its second ability triggers, returning Metamorphosis Fanatic from exile to the battlefield.
5. When Metamorphosis Fanatic enters, it triggers, returning Wormfang Drake from your graveyard to the battlefield.
6. When Wormfang Drake enters, its first ability triggers, exiling Metamorphosis Fanatic.
7. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop lets you endlessly recycle Wormfang Drake by using its own triggers alongside Ashnod's Altar to generate an infinite supply of colorless mana, sacrifices, and deaths. When the Drake enters the battlefield, its enters-the-battlefield trigger forces you to exile a creature—in this case, Metamorphosis Fanatic—setting up the engine. Sacrificing the Drake to the Altar triggers its leaves-the-battlefield ability, which returns Metamorphosis Fanatic to the battlefield; the Fanatic then responds by bringing the Drake straight back from your graveyard. Because Metamorphosis Fanatic's own enters-the-battlefield ability brings the Drake back directly, you can repeat this dance infinitely without ever needing to recast them from your hand.
