How it works

1. Cast Vesuvan Doppelganger by paying its mana cost. Choose to have it enter the battlefield as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
2. Put Vesuvan Doppelganger into your graveyard due to the legend rule.
3. Vesuvan Doppelganger's first ability and second ability trigger, along with Rakdos Joins Up's second ability.
4. Resolve Vesuvan Doppelganger's second trigger and Rakdos Joins Up's trigger, dealing damage to target opponent.
5. Resolve Vesuvan Doppelganger's first trigger, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it as a copy of Rakdos Joins Up.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This loop cleverly exploits the legend rule by letting Opalescence turn enchantments into creatures, transforming a copy of Rakdos Joins Up into a legendary creature that immediately sends itself to the graveyard. Because Vesuvan Doppelganger can enter as a copy of the original Rakdos Joins Up, its own triggered ability triggers upon hitting the graveyard, resurrecting itself back to the battlefield with two additional +1/+1 counters. Meanwhile, Rakdos Joins Up's second ability triggers off this legendary creature's death, repeatedly pinging your opponent for lethal damage with every cycle.
